did a photo shooting for POPEYE magazine (styling by TOMOKI SUKEZANE), we had a lot of fun shooting the brazilian twin brothers! ,...they look so identical!!!... I had a hard time remembering their names!!! even the dogs were identical!!! take a look at the making of video!!

LUIRE magazine is a magazine turned to black people culture and fashion,...by this I mean reggae, hiphop and of course R&B, then I got assigned to shoot an editorial where the theme was LOVE STORY,.... ....what kind of LOVE STORY can I come up with to a magazine like LUIRE?? first I thought about a couple who robbed a bank and finalyy got killed by the police,...something like “BONNIE&CLYDE”,...the famous couple who robbed a lot of banks in America in 1930’s, but then we didn’t have enough budget to make the pictures....so I had to come up with a “cheaper” idea... and this is what was published in the magazine... first,..she is waiting for her man.... .......then she does what she has to do.... ...after so much shaking :-) she gets hungry...and he kindly gives her some strawberries... ...we had a big laughter during the shooting!!... I guess it’s pretty much a LUIRE style LOVE STORY!!! do you like it??....no??....make a comment!!

sometimes you see some very nice TV commercials,...or even some very interesting fashion editorial....so,..have you ever asked yourself: “where did they get this idea from??” usually the creators have a “brain storming” meeting,...where they discuss many diferent ideas till come up with something good! usually photographers don’t have much chance to be in the “brain storming” meeting,...it is a job for creative directors and art-directors,...but sometimes “we” have a chance to be the creators of an advertising. so, I got my chance to be the creative director of an advertising for a bicycle! ...I got my inspiration from MADONNA’s last year world tour,...where she wore horse riding costume in a very fetish way, ...talking about fetish,...then I saw an advertising for an AUSTRIAN APPLIANCE STORE,...and they had a very different way to show their products... since FETISH was the “in” look not only in music but also in advertisings all around the world I decided to mix both ideas,... MADONNA and the AUSTRIAN advertising together to come up with a strong and powerful image for the bicycle advertising which was on the pages of LEON na ZINO magazines. very “eye-catching”,...specially into a men’s fashion magazine,...the ad created a lot of discussions in many bicycle related sites,...some loved it,...some hated it!! how about you??...do you like it??...or not??...send a comment ok? ...GUY RITCHIE...they shot together a great video for BMW...so cool yet super funny... ...

the very first time I photographed SADA MAYUMI was for VIVI magazine,...we have worked together quite a few times,...she is very easy to work with...she moves very well and she is very creative in front of the camera, these pictures were taken for WARP magazine on an editorial about japanese sexy models!!

MAYA is from Canada,...she plays billiard very well,...she also plays winning-eleven,...she loves beer and she can imitate James Brown better than Eddie Morphy does!! finally I had a chance to do an essay with her for PLAYER magazine,... I wanted to do something based on a MEXICAN look,...very latin...we shot inside a mexican restaurant and the musicians were very happy to be in the pictures!!!....everyone singing and dancing during the shooting.... TEQUILA!!!!

ANNA is swedish,...and she has a baby...and her baby was born in the same day as me!!! I like the styling here,... IKEDA san (stylist) managed to get some really exotic clothes,...and for the second time ANNA was the COVER GIRL of the month for PLAYER magazine!

not long ago I did a test shooting with TINA from SATORU-JAPAN,...she is half english half japanese,...very exotic looking girl,.. I thought it would be nice to shoot her in some kind of exotic location,...wearing exotic clothes and accessories!!...this is the result we got for PLAYER magazine COVER GIRL of the month!

I woke up 5:30 AM to go on location for SAFARI magazine,...it was a very rainy day,...bad wheather indeed!! ,...we managed to do a few shots indoors and on a balcony under a roof,...when we finished shooting indoors the rain was gone!! :-)...so we could shoot the other cuts outside and finished the day with a very nice sunset!!... a good looking couple,...a harley davidson,...the route 66,...and a lot of money in their pockets!!...get your kicks on route 66!! something about buses,...actually something about mass transport vehicles,...trains,...airplanes,...buses... I always find it so photogenic,...every single country has its own unique blend of transport vehicles,...some are really eye-catching with strange designs and colors combinations....would love to do a photoshoot having some of the old and new japanese bullet trains as a backdrop!!

in 1966 Franz Bez took a picture of Angie Dickson that became a classic cover of Esquire Magazine,...to celebrate its 70th anniversary Esquire had Britney Spears on the cover reprising the same Dickson’s classic look,...finally to celebrate its 75th anniversary the victoria’s secret models graced another cover based on the picture of Franz Bez!....then my friend Ines (the director of miss universe japan) had the idea of shooting some of the miss japan finalists using the same idea of Franz Bez,...its so simple yet so striking...bottomless, white sweater and a red backdrop! ,...you can see the making of movie at the movies category!

Bali is definitly a magical place,...not the crowded beaches,...but the mountains,... UBUD is the place to be,...the music,...the dance,...the temples,... UBUD smells nice,....it looks nice,...if you are looking for a peaceful time in Bali just go to UBUD.... I have never been to such a relaxing place!....and don’t forget to visit the Balinese Art Museum....that’s where I got the inspiration for the picture below!

december 2007 my friend Anna came to see me,....she wanted to have her pregnant picture taken. I asked her when she was supposed to give birth,....she said probably beginning of february 2008,...year of the rat,...so her kid was born right on the same day as me...february 10th!!...what a great coincidence!!... I hope when her kid grow up she can tell him that the guy who took her picture was born in the same day!! there is definitly something about pregnant women,....they glow!!!....how to make Anna glow in a photograph??.... ...my answer is in the photograph below! by the way,... Anna used to be a model,..here are some of the pictures I took of her when she used to model

once I was asked to shoot a photo essay for an exihibition which the theme was LOVE&POWER,... the exhibition took place at SPIRAL HALL in AOYAMA and was sponsored by BENETTON. I find that racism does still exist in may corners of the world,...then to justify the theme chosen to the exihibition I decided to shoot a naked couple of different races pretending to be dancing tango, which in my opinion is a very sensual and energetic looking dance,...as if they were in the process of mating,...different races mating might lead to one single race where racism will not exist anymore! say NO to racism!

it was somewhere around 30º C,...very hot and sunny day and I had the boys wearing winter clothes and jumping like crazy soccer fans!... I think they will never want to work with me again!! :-) for every single picture I am about to take I need a little bit of time so I can concentrate on the image&look of the shot!

it was nice to see my picture of HIROKO on the cover of METROPOLIS magazine! the picture itself is very graphic,...straight to the camera,...the hair has a sharp cut,..and the guys who design the cover layout got it right there! they managed to make the picture look even better,...a good designer can make a simple picture look great... but a bad designer can destroy a great picture!
